Service Providers accessed through Meld support a wide variety of payment methods. You can find a list of supported payment methods for onramps and offramps below.

Type vs. Subtype

The type is a broad and general description of the payment method. The subtype is a subset of the type. For example, 'CARD', 'LOCAL' and 'MOBILE_WALLET' are payment method types, and 'VISA', 'GIROPAY', and 'APPLE_PAY' are the respective payment method subtypes.

If you request a paymentMethodType in your quote request, you will get back either that paymentMethodType or the paymentMethodSubTypethat the specific service provider returns as the default for that type.

Meld accepts both Type and Subtype as valid strings within the paymentMethodType parameter in the crypto quote and crypto widget endpoints.

Note: Thepayment methods endpoint can be used to get a list of countries a payment method supports.

Supported Payment Methods for Offramps

Default Type and Subtype for Onramps

If no paymentMethodType or paymentMethodSubType is provided in Meld's /quote or /widget endpoints, the Meld default paymentMethodType and paymentMethodSubType will be used for each service provider.

Default payment methods are configured at the service provider level. The Meld default for each paymentMethodType can be found in the sheet below. Please note that Xanpool is the only service provider with a default paymentMethodType for the type LOCAL. If LOCAL is passed as a parameter when requesting quotes from multiple service providers, the LOCAL payment method which supports that currency/country combo and is supported by each service provider will be returned.
